WHAT IS INCLUDED, WHAT SHOULD I BRING, AND WHY SHOULD I HIRE A GUIDE?
8-10 Hours Guided Fishing and Lunch
Get the Drift Outfitters full day guided fishing trip includes 8-10 hours fishing, lunch, and flies. Our professional guides provide lunch, which generally includes sandwiches, snacks, plenty of water and soda. We can handle lunch any way you would like. Some anglers enjoy relaxing with provided table and chairs, while others like to fish all day and eat in between casts! If you desire something special or your diet dictates a change, please feel free to let us know and we will certainly accomodate you and your guests.
Advance bookings are a large part of our business and most repeat clients reserve their favorite dates well in advance. We understand that planning your fishing trip and the logistics involved can be difficult. We suggest contacting Get the Drift Outfitters as early as possible to allow us to create a positive experience for you. We can provide last minute reservations and are glad to accomodate you. Call us at 406/459-8739 to check on guide availibility.

Flies, Boats, Gear
All the flies you will need are provided by your guide, which makes the Missouri River different than many other Montana rivers. They have the latest and greatest patterns as well as the traditional flies that have been fooling trout for generations. They are in tune with the river and guide it everyday which allows them to understand hatch patterns and fish behaviors to dictate the best fly and techniques for any given situation. Our experienced guides tie all winter, and many early mornings during the season, to provide truly Missouri River specific flies that are infused with local insect behavior and of course love. The tremendous hatches of Caddis, Blue Winged Olives (BWO), Pale Morning Duns (PMD), Trico's, Terrestrials, and other very localized hatches are emulated with creativity to create effective flies for the Missouri.

Clackacraft Drift Boats have become the Industry Standard of the flyfishing community. Most of the guides here on the Missouri row a Clackcraft because they are roomy, have plenty of dry storage, and are client friendly. Many of these river dories are 15-16 feet long, maintain a low profile, and are quiet in the water. We row the Caddilac of drift boats that allow us to get extremely close to our frequently rising trout.
What should I bring?
Guides provide the boat, flies, tippet, lunch, and local knowledge. Guests should bring 4-7 weight fly rods with CLEAN FLY LINES, polarized sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, and appropriate seasonal clothing. Comfortable WADERS and RAIN GEAR in the rocky mountains is a must. Although it is picture perfect most of the summer and we commonly wet wade, an afternoon thunderstorm is common. Spring and fall fishing dates can bring anything from rain, snow, and sleet, so bring enough layers of clothing to insure you are comfortable for the entire day. Our guides possess extra gear, and are willing to share, but it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you are prepared before meeting your guide. This will allow for the most successful day. Contact Get the Drift Outfitters if you need to arrange rental rods or waders in advance of your scheduled trip and we will be happy to help.
